TES Annual Report
COMMUNICATIONS
Reinforcing the TES mission and vision on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis is a core part of the efforts the entire TES community undertake. The school has attempted to coin several mottos to try to make it easy to remember the key ideas of these. The Main TES motto is 'Learn and Flourish' - and whilst to learn is quite an easy concept for all to grasp (even if in reality learning is taking place in many different ways), the concept of what it means to ‘flourish’ is a little more subjective. So, the students have helped the school to make a series of four videos that show the key aspects of flourishing in relation to the tenets of 'Embracing Diversity', 'Unique Journeys', 'Beyond the Classroom-Wellbeing', and 'Doing Well By Doing Good'.
What do these all mean?
Embracing Diversity
Unique Journeys
as a school with three different sections - British, French, German - we have a really amazing range of nationalities and cultures that come together within TES. The importance of Global Citizenship is something we live and breathe every day, recognising the interconnectedness between communities and cultures and valuing practices that denote harmony, inclusion, global perspectives, and worldviews.
every student is unique and has diverse interests, talents, and desires. Our faculty and staff across each section of the school are dedicated to enabling the students to take or even create opportunities to develop, and expand any and all interests further.
Doing Well by Doing Good
Beyond the Classroom:Wellbeing
is a fundamental area of the school's focus. Looking after the students on many levels - physical, mental, emotional, and social - is an important part of the work done at the school, so that they feel good in themselves, which enables them to be happy, balanced, and ultimately perform to the best of their abilities in their academics and outside endeavours.
demonstrates ways that our students flourish in the school and wider communities. They make a positive difference in local, national, and global environments, as this is done through service, engaging with others, protecting the environment, being curious, and showing empathy to those in more difficult situations than ourselves - then, taking action.
It is very interesting to hear the community now using these tag lines when they are talking about the ways our students truly flourish. We can see this when we meet alumni members at events which give them an opportunity to return to campus, as they did in January at the alumni reunion. They are doing some amazing things in very diverse areas of study and business.
