Small Books, Big Ideas Students Exploring the SDGs Through Creative Mini-Book Design By Ms Flora Sung, Head of Chinese Language and Culture (CLC), Secondary & High School Section

What can a small handmade book reveal about the future of our world? In our Middle School Chinese classrooms, the an swer turned out to be quite extraordinary. Through creativity, research, and thoughtful reflection, students transformed their understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into imaginative mini-books—small in size, yet filled with powerful ideas about sustainability, responsibility, and global citizenship. Behind these creative projects lies an initiative that has become a defining feature of the Chinese cultural pro gramme on the Secondary Campus: the Chinese Mas terclass series. Since 2023, the programme has opened new windows of learning by connecting students direct ly with award-winning authors, prominent professors, journalists, and global organisations. These sessions bring authentic voices into the classroom, allowing stu dents to explore language, culture, and global issues through meaningful dialogue.
