A Weekend of Europe Day Performances By Mr Kerry Nockolds, Director of Community Relations and Marketing, TES

Europe Day is always an important event for us as a European school. We hold our own annual Europe Day celebration (this year on Friday, May 8th), and since last year, we have added a performance to the Europe Day Concert series at the National Concert Hall (this year on Sunday, May 10th). But this year was taken to even higher levels, with these 2 events and a special ad ditional event at the Presidential Office (Saturday, May 9th), so the whole weekend was a musical feast for an even larger community to enjoy. First, we want to say a big thank you to the music teach ers from both campuses for their efforts in preparing the children for performance and, of course, for help ing them get to each venue. It was a big weekend for

several music groups: the Primary Harp Ensemble performed on Friday and Saturday, the Primary Upper Choir performed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the Secondary Yangminshan performed on Sunday. Let’s start from the beginning with our TES Europe Day Event, our traditional one, held at the Primary campus and attended by the European representative offices, the various European Chambers of Commerce, and our TES Board of Directors. The theme this year was ‘sus tainability and protecting the environment’, which is an important tenet of the European Union and one we have been working hard on with the eco committee at primary and the sustainability committee at secondary.
