TES Connect 2026 Summer

Unique Journeys

The competition reached a fever pitch during the wind tunnel testing. The precision engineering on display was reflected in the record-breaking stats of our win ning team: High-Speed Tunnel: A staggering 36.445 Joules of energy output. Low-Speed Tunnel: An efficient 10.024 Joules, prov ing the turbine could perform even in a light breeze.

Voices from the Podium: Road to MIT “Winning Gold was an incredible feeling, but the real highlight was the ‘click’ moment—when we finally understood how to balance the gear ratios with the blade pitch. We spent weeks 3D-printing different geometries, and half of them failed! But every failure taught us something about drag and air resistance. What surprised us most wasn’t just the physics, but the teamwork. We had to trust each other’s data and keep our cool when the multimeter didn’t show the numbers we wanted. Standing on that stage knowing we are headed to the USA to represent TES is a dream come true, but the journey in the lab is what made us engineers.” — Team Road to MIT

Engineering Harmony: Music & Celebration STEM wasn’t the only thing taking centre stage! The event was bookended by spectacular student perfor mances. At the Gala Dinner, the atmosphere was ele gant with vocal, guitar, classical piano, and violin sets. On the competition day, a rock band performance during dinner allowed students to celebrate their hard work with high-octane energy!

Engineering Character: Our TES Values in Action Participation: Every student was ‘all in.’ From the 8 teams to the musicians on stage, the engagement was total. Dr Chou has already invited our visiting teams from the Philip pines and Hong Kong to join future international events in Taiwan to keep this spirit alive. Respect: Our three independent judges provided balanced, fair assessments, ensuring every team’s effort was reflected with objectivity. This fostered an atmosphere where students valued each other’s work as much as their own. Responsibility: By tackling global energy challenges, students proposed innovative solutions for a sustainable future. They took ownership of the climate conversation, moving from theory to practical prototyping. Creativity: Teams were encouraged to explore original, intuitive approaches. There were no ‘correct’ instructions; instead, students used divergent thinking to solve problems with unique blade geometries. Perseverance: We saw the ‘Never-Give-Up’ spirit in action. Team Kellett Kinnickinnic fought through design flaws to the final buzzer and completed their test, proving that learning from failure is the greatest value of the challenge. A huge thank you to our speakers, judges, and the TES community. We’ll see you at the Asia KidWind Challenge at the end of the year!
