TES Annual Report

DOING WELL BY DOING GOOD

This year the efforts and goodwill to try to follow our school vision to ‘make a positive difference in local, national and global environments’ have been raised even further, at class level, at section level, and at school level, and also through working with the parent and wider communities. ‘Doing well by doing good’ has been fully embraced by everyone in the TES community, whether it be fundraising to help people in need, or efforts to improve the environment from our Eco committees in both campuses, including efforts to make the Christmas Bazaar more sustainable with the use of eco cups leading the way to reduce disposable plastic cup use. There was also an amazing drive to affect the world around us. Below you can see details from the different sections of the school, and in excess of 1 million NT dollars was raised for numerous charities, with these efforts improving the lives of many different groups. British Primary Section Students have been active across all sections of the BPS as they have striven to support those who are less well off, such as Year 2 students continuing their support for the PULIHARA turtle sanctuary in the Philippines, spearheaded via additional fundraising from making and selling T-shirts branded with bespoke ‘save the turtle’ designs. Also, Year 6 students supported the ‘Free the Bears Foundation’. Across all year groups from Year 1 to Year 6, the British Primary Parent Association (BPPA) and BPS worked together to hold a ‘Fun Run’, which raised more than NTD$823,000 for two charities: The Taiwan Disability Care Association (TDCA) and the Hualien Disaster Relief Fund (following the earthquake in April a decision was made to split the proceeds between these two funds). French Section Environmental consciousness is deeply ingrained in the French Section's curriculum. Our students have been at the forefront of sustainability initiatives. Projects such as ‘Taipei 2050’,which envisions an eco-friendly metropolis, and the Xiaoliuqiu citizen science expedition, where students collected data on coral reefs, exemplify our commitment to fostering responsible global citizens. These experiences, which blend technology, science, and creativity, empower students to address real-world challenges. The French Section has been recognised for its dedication to sustainable development, earning the prestigious EF3D accreditation from AEFE. Through these initiatives, our students develop the skills of critical thinking and problem-solving, and learn a profound sense of civic responsibility. Focusing on the importance of thinking of others and finding ways to make a positive difference is an ongoing and highly important facet of the education we provide to the students.
