TES Annual Report

German Section Prosperity is indeed a very pleasant thing, and such joy is all the greater when you can share it with other people. It is very important to us to educate our students in such a way that they develop personally and academically, but also that they learn to think outside the box and take responsibility for themselves and others. In this context, we organised a charity run for a second time, which took place on January 31st, 2024 under the motto, ‘Those who move, move something’. The students in Klasse 5 to 10 demonstrated the concept of ‘doing well, by doing good’ by raising NTD$132,981 in this event.

The money was donated to the Taipei Orphan Welfare Foundation, which looks after children in need in Taiwan who are being supported due to the loss of their parents.

British Secondary and High School Section The TES Sustainability Group orchestrated Environment Week, a testament to our students' commitment to a sustainable future. This student-led initiative has showcased various ways we can live more sustainably, reflecting their determination to correct the mistakes of previous generations. Each lunchtime, events and food stalls offered delicious vegan and vegetarian food. The European Secondary Campus Parent Association (ESCPA) also contributed their culinary skills to produce sustainable international cuisine. You can learn more about the TES Sustainability Strategy here. The Year 7 tree planting project raised over NT$140,000, which enabled them to plant 360 trees near Hsinchu. Parents received certificates for the number of trees their donations enabled us to purchase. This helped the students reforest an area with indigenous trees that previously grew in that area. Multiple other charitable fundraisers were held by different groups throughout the year, run entirely by the students, who raised funds and sent donations of NT$60,000 to the Syin-Lu Social Welfare Foundation, NT$50,000 to the SALT Collective, NT$50,000 to the Taiwan Black Bear Association, and NT$50,000 to the ACT Animal Shelter. Student-led service activities, such as the community outreach that our ‘Guardians of the Stars’ have been doing with teens in the broader community, have made a difference in the lives of others by providing activities that they would not usually have a chance to be involved in.
